DIVERSITY TOUR

CHAIR:  Debbie Hurwitz

Our country is a nation of immigrants and as the Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance
(LCBA), we believe in our motto which states “As God as our father so all men are brothers”.
The LCBA Diversity Tour celebrates the differences of our brothers and sisters and how our
diverse cultures and beliefs contribute to our country and our county. We also recognize there
are still divisions that separate us and it is our intention our tour can help lessen this divide.

We celebrate Lycoming County’s diversity by visiting various locations and organizations which
have and are still continuing to contribute to our heritage. The LCBA tour allows us to learn their
history, beliefs, and goals, and allows us to ask questions, so we all gain an understanding of
how our differences make us a stronger community.

On past tours we have visited by bus, American Rescue Workers, Bethel African Methodist
Episcopal Church, Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Harmonia Gesang Verein Club, Firetree Place,
Pennsdale Meeting House, Antioch Baptist Church, Freedom Road and Cemetery and
the Ohev Shalom Congregation. And since this is a celebration of diversity, at many of the
stops we are treated with ethnic refreshments. For example, Ohev Shalom Congregation, our
last stop on the tour, has graciously provided delicious ethnic food and musical entertainment.

If you find brotherhood an important goal, have an interest on how we managed to get where
we are today in Lycoming county and want to celebrate our diversity with an interesting,
informative and enjoyable time, you will not want to miss the LCBA Diversity Tour, which is
usually held in mid June.
